Celebrations!
Hey, the ENnies have ben announced. First and foremost, I want to send my congratulations to all the winners, many of which have places of honor on my gaming shelf! In particular, thanks to best publishers (Paizo and White Wolf) and to the Lifetime Achievement Award winners (Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson, and Erick Wujcik). As short lists of gaming greats go, not to mention sources I can track a lot of my own fun back to, that's a noteworthy group.

Sadly I couldn't attend Gen Con this year, despite reaaally wanting to, and thus I couldn't be at the ENnies ceremony. I think I've only missed one ENnies ever, and in that one a product I worked on got a silver. Of course this year Star Wars Saga was up for a few... and won three golds and a silver. Wow, you like us, you really like us!

While neither Rodney nor I could be there, and I don't know if Chris or Gary could, for the whole team let me take a moment and thank everyone who voted for us. I'm very proud of my work on Saga, but I'm even prouder that the fans like it as well. That's who really matters, and I hope some fans got to see their nominee take home the prize. Rodney has done a great job shepherding this baby through it's first year of products, and I suspect this is not the last Star Wars ENnie he's going to see!

For the record, we got gold for Best Rules, Best d20/OGL Product, and Best Game, and Silver for Product of the Year.

Best Game?! Rock!

Now, to celebrate, I'm gonna go see Clone Wars!

I have indeed been quiet, which I shouldn't be. I'll try to post a little more than seasonally. :D

Thanks!

Both the direct support, and the knowledge that people are enjoying something I helped make, are real boosts!

Now they see the power of this fully armed and operational Role Playing Game!

I just wish 4E had gone with talent trees instead of powers. I think that would have stopped a lot of the 'everyone is the same' and 'it's like WoW' crap. Talent trees (thanks to d20 Modern and Saga) were already pretty accepted.

Mind you, I still like 4E, but I consider it a simpler system. Kinda like the OD&D (4E) and AD&D (3.5) comparisons.

It is a very different path. But it's also worth remembering that many Star Wars players are looking for a very different game experience than most D&D players, so I can understand why WotC choose to go a different route for their 4e redesign.

Congratulations!

I can't really say more.
It's so well deserved, I'm happy for the RPG designers, and I hope WotC continues popping out books with the quality showed in the Saga releases so far.

I was there and I was excited as hell for you.

The one amusing twist that came of it was that the WOTC music was the Imperial March, which was fun and ironic and totally apt for the *many* Star Wars awards, but it was a bit more funny when Shelly Mazzanoble went up for "Confessions of a Part Time Sorceress".

That's great!

Who accepted the Star Wars awards?

God, I'm totally blanking on the name. A serious looking completely bald guy. For some reason I think his name was Peter something, but names tended to run together as the night went on.
